2005 Hyundai Sonata Specs

In 2005, South Korea-based Hyundai Motors continued to cause the third period of its Sonata sedan. All other Sonata models came equipped with the four-speed automatic.

Performance

Hyundai's 2.4-liter Sirius II engine generated 138 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 147 ft-lbs of torque at 3,000 rpm. Inside each cylinder, this engine achieved a compression ratio of 10:1.



Hyundai offered two engines for the 2005 Sonata. The base model came equipped with a 2.4-liter displacement version of Hyundai's Sirius II inline four-cylinder engine. This engine used a multipoint fuel injection and a dual-overhead cam (DOHC) configuration to funnel fuel through four valves per cylinder, for a total of 16 valves.


Prospective buyers could upgrade the base model to a 2.7 liter displacement version of Hyundai's Delta six cylinder engine. This engine came standard on the GLS and LX options packages. Like the Sirius II, the Delta engine also used a multi-point fuel injection, DOHC configuration and four valves per cylinder, for a total of 24 valves.


Hyundai offered the base Sonata with a five-speed manual transmission and an optional four-speed automatic. Hyundai released the 2005 Sonata as a mannequin mannequin with two styling and options combination upgrades: the GLS and the LX. All of these cars were front-wheel guide, five-passenger, four-door sedans. According to CNET, the 2005 base model Sonata retailed for $17,044.

Drivetrain



Sonata's equipped with the 2.7-liter Delta V-6 cranked out 170 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 181 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 rpm. These engines also had a compression ratio of 10:1.


In terms of fuel economy, the base model Sonata with a four-cylinder engine earned an EPA average of 30 miles-per-gallon (mpg) during highway driving and 22 mpg in the city. The V6 Sonata's rated 27 mpg on the highways and 19 mpg during city driving. Hyundai installed a17.2 gallon tank in all models of the 2005 Sonata.


Dimensions


Hyundai built all of its 2005 Sonata's on the same chassis and body. The 2005 Sonata stood 56 inches in height and had an overall width of 71.7 inches. Its body spanned a length of 186.9 inches with a wheelbase of 106.3 inches. The weight of each Sonata model varied depending on the package and engine installed. Hyundai's base model Sonata with the four-cylinder engine weighed 3,217 lbs. Sonatas equipped with the V-6 weighed 3,254 lbs.


All models of the 2005 Sonata used size 205/65R15 tires on both the front and back wheels.
