Centripetal Clutch Work

Centripetal Clutch Basics

This cuts power briefly, but it stops the bike from stalling altogether and allows it to keep going up the hill.

Centripetal Clutch Structure

The rotor of a centripetal clutch is attached to the engine drive shaft. It has several weighted, free-pivoting arms with friction pads on their surfaces. These arms are balanced out by springs, which resist their swinging movement. Around the arms is a cylinder which is connected to the wheels, rotor or whatever the motor is powering.

How the Centripetal Clutch Works

As the engine spins, the centripetal force pulls on the swinging arms. When the engine goes beyond a certain rate, those arms swing out and make contact with the cylinder surrounding them, sending power to the wheels. If the drive suddenly encounters a heavy loud, it slows down the engine and disconnects the clutch, allowing the engine to speed up enough to power through it. For instance, if a moped hits a big incline, the engine will briefly disengage to receive up more speed.Petrol engines occasion to spin at a sure hurry to job efficiently. At low speeds, they flight Rugged and cause not make especial still energy. When Gauze engines slow Sufficiently, they can stall gone completely and commitment to be restarted. Centripetal clutches (as well down pat as centrifugal clutches) are used on miniature engine tools and vehicles such as oomph karts, mopeds, lawn mowers and chainsaw to conserve the engine running at a high enough speed to produce power efficiently.
