5. Raise the vehicles using a floor jack and support it safely on two jack stands and remove the intake manifold starter support.


6. Unplug the "S" terminal connector from the starter solenoid by depressing the plastic tab and pulling off the hard shell assembly.


7. Unfasten the nut securing the "B" terminal-red battery cable-from the solenoid and remove the wire.


8. Remove the lower starter mounting bolt and lift the starter motor out of the engine compartment.


Connect the air cleaner-to-intake manifold tube and the black, negative battery cable.


10. Install the solenoid S terminal connector and B terminal wire. Then install the lower starter mounting bolt and torque it 18 to 20 foot lbs. (25 to 27 Nm).


11. Connect the accelerator cable routing bracket to the engine block if you have an automatic model with a 1.9L engine.


12.9. Set the new starter motor in place and make sure the unit is properly seating and flushed against its mounting base, then install the upper mounting bolts. Torque the bolts 18 to 20 foot lbs. (9 to 13.5 Nm).
