Prepare the Car

8. Use a paintbrush to tap catalyzed resin into the fiberglass on the cardboard. Lift the fiberglass patch off of the cardboard with a razor blade.12. Set the patch over the hole and ground area and smooth it against any curves in the car. Use masking tape to hold it in place.



10. Paint a bit of resin onto the ground surface of the Corvette.


11. Tapping the resin will help to fully saturate the glass fibers as well as force out any trapped air bubbles.9. Place the second piece of fiberglass onto the first and tap in more resin, then add the third and the final coat of resin.



13. Allow the patch to cure until it hardens and dries fully.


14. Remove as much of the masking tape as you can (some will be stuck to the patch).


15. Fill in any voids with auto body filler and allow it to dry.


16. Use a palm sander to sand the patch flush with the rest of the car. Begin with coarse sandpaper, and gradually move to finer and finer grades.


17.Paint on fiberglass primer and allow it to dry.


18. Polish the primer with wet/dry sandpaper.


19. Paint the patched area to match the rest of the car.
