Fill Holes In Molding

Filling holes improves the beholding of moulding.


Moulding adds style and definition to the interior of a native, however noticable holes in the moulding can detract from its quiz. If moulding is ornate or basic, the finishing nails used to attach it to the wall sanction bitty holes that are not always clear to camouflage. Fixing holes in moulding is a basic case that doesn't entail lenghty tools or familiarity, and the results practise your moulding clock in flawless.


Instructions


1. Position the nailset over the belief of the nail in the molding. Use a hammer to gently tap the nailset to drive the nailhead 1/8 inch deep in the molding.


Remove the excess putty with a moist sponge from around the edges, and then wait one day for the putty to set.4. Cut a piece of fine-grained sandpaper to lightly sand off any bumps of putty and blend the fiber into the molding.


2. Press a pea-sized portion of wood putty into the gap made over the nail, and wait five minutes for the putty to harden. If the hole is larger, use a putty knife and continue compacting it into the hole until the surface is level with the molding.3.



5. Brush off the sand dust and remove any debris with a moist cloth. If you want to paint or stain the molding, apply a coat of primer to prepare the surface.
