Replace A 2002 Toyota Corolla Window Motor

Instructions


1. Position a slotted screwdriver last the side-view mirror trim collection in the interior. Pry the trim plenty out from the door panel until the retaining clips on the bottom of the trim group are dislodged.


2. Position a slotted screwdriver under the energy window switch. Pry the window switch away from the door panel. Detach the electrical connection from the back of the window switch.


3. Remove the screws holding the door latch and door latch trim to the door panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the door latch and door latch trim away from the door panel, to access the latch rod. Pull the latch rod from the backside of the door latch with pliers.


4. Remove the retaining screws holding the door panel to the door with a Phillips screwdriver. Position a putty knife behind the door panel. Pry it away from the door to loosen then dislodge the retaining clips on the backside of the door panel. Pull the panel completely away from the door.


5. Pull the plastic water shield away from the door.


6. Lower the window glass. Two bolts attach the bottom of the window glass to the lift plate on the window motor. Guide the electrical connection for the window switch through the hole in the door panel that houses the window switch. Push the door panel against the door to engage the retaining clips. Install the retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Use duct tape to secure the window glass to the door frame.


7. Unscrew the bolts holding the window motor to the door with a socket wrench. Slip the window motor through the larger access hole on the door.


8. Slip the replacement window motor through the larger access hole in the door panel. Attach the motor to the door panel, finger-tightening the bolts to hold the motor in place against the door panel. Tighten the bolts with a socket wrench.


9. Remove the tape holding the window glass in place. Gently lower the window glass onto the lift plate on the window motor. Position the bottom of the window glass so it is accessible through the two access holes near the bottom of the door panel. Install the two bolts to hold the window glass to the lift plate.


10. Stick the water shield back onto the door. Guide the electrical connection to the window motor through the small opening in the water shield.


11. Place the door panel. Attach the link rod to the backside of the door latch with pliers. These two bolts should be accessible through the access holes near the bottom of the door. Remove the two bolts with a socket wrench. Guide the window up, by hand, through the window opening and up to the top of the door frame. Install the screws holding the door latch trim piece in place with a Phillips screwdriver.


12. Attach the electrical connection to the backside of the power window switch. Push the switch into the hole on the door panel.


13. Push the side-view mirror trim against the door to engage the retaining clips.
