Attach a flexible socket wrench extension to the torque wrench and fully tighten your starter's top mounting bolt.


7. Place both of the solenoid's wires back on their correct studs, and thread both nuts by hand until their snug. Set your 1/4-inch drive torque wrench to 89 inch-pounds and tighten the positive wire. Reset the torque wrench to 44 inch-pounds and secure the second wire to the solenoid. Remove the painters' tape from both solenoid wires.


8. Return the protective shield to its mounting position on your starter. Secure the shield by reinstalling its push pin. You won't need to use the pliers again. Just push down on the pin with your thumb until you feel it fully seat itself.
