Focus On A 1995 Honda Accord V6 Thermostat

It is not laborious to modify the thermostat on your Honda Accord. It is important that you change it as soon as you know there is a problem. If you put it off, you could cause further damage to the car that is much more expensive to repair, such as a blown head gasket. When you start the engine, the thermostat is in the closed position. This permits the engine to heat up faster. The thermostat then opens and allows the coolant to flow through the entire engine. If it does not open, then the engine will overheat.

Instructions

1. Open the drain valve on the bottom of the radiator with a wrench and drain the coolant into the drain pan.

2. Disconnect the radiator hose from the thermostat housing using a screwdriver to loosen the clamp.

Start the car and check thoroughly for leaks. Clean any excess gasket material from the mounting surface using the scraper tool.

4. Insert a new thermostat into the engine with the spring portion going in the engine. Place a new gasket and the thermostat on the mounting surface. Tighten the bolts using the wrench. Connect the radiator hose and tighten the clamp with the screwdriver.

5. Refill the radiator and reservoir with engine coolant.3. Remove the mounting bolts from the thermostat housing using a wrench. Pull the housing off the engine and remove the thermostat.
