Tips About Replace A '94 Integra Rear Strut Set up

The 1994 Acura Integra has strut assemblies for the rear suspension, consisting of the strut, a coil spring and the strut mount. In regular, the rear struts are sold as solid assemblies, with a fashionable coil spring and strut mount pre-installed on the strut by the manufacturer. Removing the strut meeting in the 1994 Acura Integra Testament miss removing the rear seat to access the upper strut-mounting bolts.


Instructions


Removal


1. Remove the lower cushion bolt located under the seat cushion, by the floor board, directly in the Centre of the seat, using the 15 mm socket and ratchet. Lift the rear of the lower cushion by ability and remove the lower cushion from the vehicle.


2. Put down the rear seat and remove the three 13 mm bolts that secure the top seat cushion to the seat hinge. Lift the top seat cushion straight up and then toward the front of the vehicle to remove it from the security hooks. Remove the top seat cushion from the vehicle.


3. Division loose the rear lug nuts on both wheels with the lug wrench. Lift the vehicle with the floor jack. Place the jack stands under the rear frame rails and lower the floor jack until the vehicle rests securely on the jack stands. Remove the lug nuts with the lug wrench and take the wheels off.


4. Remove the bolt that connects the lower control arm to the trailing arm with the 17 mm socket and ratchet. Place the floor jack under the lower control arm and raise the floor jack against the lower control arm until it compresses the strut about 1/2 of an inch.


5. Get into the vehicle and remove the upper strut mounting nuts with the 12 mm socket and ratchet. Set the top seat cushion into the security hooks and install the mounting bolts with the socket and ratchet. Raise the upper seat cushion and latch it into place. Set the lower seat cushion into position and install the lower seat cushion mounting bolt with the socket and ratchet. Set each strut assembly on the side of the vehicle from which it was removed; as the driver side strut is different from the passenger side.


Installation


6. Open and compare the new strut assemblies with the ones removed from the vehicle to determine which is to be installed on the left side and which assembly is to be installed on the right.


7. Lift the new strut assembly to the floorboard and slide the upper mounting studs through the mounting holes in the floorboard. Raise the lower control arm by hand and slide it into the lower strut mounting fork. Install the lower strut-mounting bolt loosely by hand.


8. Get into the vehicle and install the upper strut-mounting nuts loosely by hand. Place the floor jack directly under the strut assembly and lift the floor jack until the strut assembly is fully compressed and the vehicle lifts slightly off the jack stand for that side of the vehicle. For safety, the vehicle should lift no more than a 1/4 inch off the jack stand.


9. Tighten the upper strut-mounting nuts to 28 foot-pounds of torque with the 12 mm socket and torque wrench. Tighten the lower strut mounting bolt to 40 foot-pounds of torque with the 17 mm socket and torque wrench. Install the bolt the connects the lower control arm to the trailing arm. Tighten the lower control arm bolt to 40 foot-pounds of torque with the 17 mm socket and torque wrench. Lower the floor jack until the vehicle rests on the jack stand.


10. Place the wheels onto the vehicle and hand tighten each lug nut. Raise the vehicle off the jack stands with the floor jack and remove the jack stands. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the lug nuts to 80 foot-pounds of torque with the 18 mm socket and torque wrench.


11. Remove the lower strut mounting bolt from the strut fork and lower control arm with the 17 mm socket and ratchet. Place one hand firmly on the strut assembly and lower the floor jack and lower control arm. Pull the strut assembly down from the vehicle.
