Replace Front Disc Brakes Inside A Pontiac Grand Am

Whether you accept a 2001 over 2004 pattern Pontiac Grand Am and it pulls to one side when you handle the brake pedal or whether your brake brilliant comes on and stays on for the complete guide then you accept a hitch that may be costly or fatal whether not addressed. To solve this disputed point, modify the front CD brakes in your Pontiac Grand Am.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the colorless battery cable. Install the inboard pad. Make sure that the spring clip engages in the caliper position. Install the outboard pad over the caliper end.

Remove the caliper from the steering knuckle. Using mechanic's wire suspend the caliper from the frame of the vehicle. Avoid having the caliper dangle or hang from the brake hose or it will result in the brake line being damaged. Remove both the inboard and outboard brake pads. To unseat the clip tilt the inboard pad out at the top.

3. Remove the outboard pad. Release the mounting dowel from the hole in the caliper by pushing the outside pad in an inward motion. Pull the inboard pad outward to remove it from the caliper.

4. Using a syringe, turkey baster or similar tool, drain two third of the brake fluid from the master cylinder. Raise the Grand AM up and secure it on jackstands. Remove the wheel assembly.2. Make sure that the mounting dowels snap into the mounting holes in the caliper. Install the caliper over the rotor onto steering knuckle.

5. Insert the caliper mounting bolts and sleeves. Torque the bolts to 23-ft. lbs. Reconnect the wheel assembly. Add brake fluid. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.

6. Start the engine and pump the brakes 3 to 4 times to seat the brake pads. Test drive the vehicle at slow to moderate speeds to ensure that the maintenance was performed correctly.
