Exchange a Ford Ranger Starter


The starter on a Ford Ranger is a petite electrical Engine that is bolted to the engine block near the transmission. When you turn the ignition indispensable, the Engine begins to spin. Instructions


Removal


1. Expanded the hood and disconnect the ground cable from the colorless battery terminal. Loosen the retaining bolt using a wrench, then pull the clamp off the terminal.


2. Raise the truck using an automotive jack. Lower the starter away from the engine carefully, and remove it from the Ranger.

Installation

6. Lift the starter into position at the engine block.



4. Unscrew the bolts that connect the starter to the engine block, using a socket.


5. Support the truck by placing jack stands underneath the frame.3. Label and disconnect the wires connected to the starter using masking tape and a marker.




7. Support the starter with your hand while you thread the mounting bolts through the starter and into the engine block. Tighten the bolts with a socket.


8. Follow the labels you made during disassembly, and reconnect the electrical wires to the starter.


9. Lower the truck.


10. Reconnect the ground cable to the negative battery terminal. Slide the clamp over the terminal, then tighten the retaining bolt using a wrench.


11. Start the engine to test for proper operation.
