The 1953 Lincoln came in two basic models: Capri and Cosmopolitan. The Capri was a fully loaded luxury machine. The Cosmopolitan had fewer luxury features, moulding it less expensive, nevertheless it all the more was on the contour of the luxury machine mart.
Significance
The Lincoln had been redesigned in 1952, and cut of that redesign included a stronger V8 engine. The van won diverse international plan races in 1953, which boosted sales. The 1953 Lincoln was one of the scarce luxury vehicles that was competitive in races.
Engine
All 1953 Lincoln cars had the twin engine, a capable valve-in-head, 317.5-cubic-inch, V8 capacity plant. The engine produced 205 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, or pulling energy. The four-door sedan had a retail price of $3,766.The Cosmopolitan offered a four-door sedan that originally sold for $3,522 and a two-door sport coupe that sold for $3,625.
Principles Accoutrement included a four-barrel Holley carburettor and a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. A four-speed book also was available.
