Alter The Belt On The 2001 Lincoln subsequently Ls

Pennies the Girdle on a 2001 Lincoln LS

In 2001, Lincoln's LS pattern was correlative to European luxury sedans in terms of vehicle styling and standard. Nevertheless unlike its European peers, the Lincoln LS is easily done to grind on in terms of do-it-yourself prolongation. Changing a serpentine girdle on a Lincoln LS is no harder than changing one on the Taurus or Focal point.

Instructions

You will need it again when installing the new belt.4. Reach in and pull the belt off the other pulleys. You may need to climb underneath the LS to reach the lower pulleys, but you should be able to remove the belt from the top side. Once you gain located it, familiarize yourself with the sash routing and pulley locations.

2. Slide the zone tensioner thing into the belt tensioner and advantage it to lever the tensioner pulley out from the serpentine cummerbund. Once the pulley is off the zone, extent in with your other participation and slip the zone off the tensioner pulley.

3. Remove the belt tensioner tool and set it to the side.1. Stand the hood and establish the girdle routing diagram. The diagram should be on a clear sticker on either the fan shroud or the underside of the hood.

5. Hold the old belt and the new belt up together and stretch them both taut in your hands. Make sure the old belt is no more than an inch longer than the new belt. The belt will stretch a bit during its lifespan, which accounts for difference in length between the old and the new.

6. Route the new belt around the pulley, beginning with the crank pulley, until it has been routed across all but the tensioner pulley. It's best to frequently consult the routing diagram while routing the new belt.

7. Reinsert the tensioner tool and move the tensioner pulley to the side once more. Reach down with your other hand and slip the new belt over the tensioner pulley and then release the pressure on the tool, allowing the tensioner to apply tension to the belt.

8. Visually verify that the belt is routed exactly as shown on the routing diagram. Start the engine and watch the belt travel along the pulley path, making sure it travels correctly before you close the hood and drive the LS.
