Repair The Alternator On The Ford Explorer

The alternator on the Ford Explorer provides electricity for accessories such as the lights and fuel pump. Remove the alternator mounting bolts using a socket and ratchet. Pull the alternator out of the engine compartment.3. Install the new alternator on the engine and tighten the mounting bolts with the socket and ratchet.



1. Pop the hood on the Explorer and disconnect the battery cable using a wrench to loosen the terminal follower. Loosen the clamp on the air cleaner outlet tube with a screwdriver and pull it off. The air cleaner outlet tube connects to the murky box, which is the air cleaner. Haul the tension off the trappings girdle by turning the bolt counterclockwise with a wrench. Lift the band off the alternator pulley.


2. Tag the electrical wires with the marker and masking tape. Disconnect the wires to the alternator using a wrench to loosen the nuts. Without the alternator, the battery would bleed indubitable quickly and the vehicle would sit where it is. Instructions


Place the belt on the alternator pulley. Tighten the belt tensioner by turning the bolt clockwise with the wrench. Connect the electrical wires to the alternator and tighten the nuts with a wrench.


4. Connect the air cleaner outlet tube and tighten the clamps with the screwdriver. Connect the battery cable and tighten the nut with a wrench. Start the Explorer to test the new alternator.
