3. Test the spark plug wires. Disconnect the negative cable from the car battery. Open the electrical fuse box in the car's engine compartment. Remove the fuel injection fuse.



5. Check the resistance on the ignition coils by removing one and connecting an ohmmeter to the terminals on the underside. Remove an ignition coil and connect an ohmmeter to the primary terminals on its underside. The resistance from the primary terminal needs to be between 0.5 and 0.9 ohms. The secondary terminal resistance should be between 5,000 and 8,000 ohms.
