Concerning The 1962 Buick Special

As cars continued to pass into greater in the early 1960s, Buick went against tradition and introduced a sporty, mid-sized van called the Skylark. The Special 8 Deluxe sold for $2,593 for the sedan and $2,890 for the station wagon.



The Certain Deluxe Series 4100 was available in convertible, sedan and two-seat estate car, and had a V-8, 215-cubic-inch engine.


The Skylark was part of the Buick Special package and came in convertible or sport coupe. It had a 215-cubic-inch V-8 engine that produced 190 horsepower.


Considerations


The Skylark was a sporty version of the Buick and was still called a Special. The regular Buick Specials were Series 8 cars that had been on the road many years but had become the smaller Buick with a wheel base of 112 inches. The Skylark's wheel base was 123 inches.


Costs


The Skylark had a price tag of $3,012 for the convertible and $2,787 for the sport coupe.


The Special 8 started at $2,304 for the coupe, and the three-seat station wagon was the most expensive at $2,736. The most popular was the sedan, which sold for $2,358. This was one of the Buick Special series that ran from 1961 to 1963. The year's pattern besides had a Buick Special Series 4100.
