Replace Rear Disc Brake Rotors

Brake rotors eventually be warped or maturate Exorbitant grooving over clock.

Rear CD brake rotors on passenger vehicles are held to the rear axle hubs by the lug nuts and brake calipers. When the brakes are applied, the brake calipers squeeze the brake pads tightly on all sides of the rotors to slow down and conclusion the vehicle. These rotors are make-believe from fling iron, and they eventually be warped or generate Exorbitant grooving over extent. Replacement brake rotors are available from limited automotive parts stores and brand-new automobile dealers.

Instructions

1. Turn off the engine and shift the vehicle into grounds or inceptive gear (jotter transmission). Chock the front wheels. Elevate the rear of the vehicle with an automotive jack and relieve it with jack stands.

2. Remove the lug nuts from the shove using a lug aficionado socket and a 1/2-inch crush wrench. Remove the trundle from the vehicle.

3. Remove the bolts holding the brake caliper to the axle. Gently pry the brake caliper elsewhere from the rotor until it's unpaid. Tie the brake caliper to the strut spring with a lot of twine. Don't confess the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose.

4. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket from the vehicle. Gently tap the brake rotor with a hammer to dislodge it. Remove the brake rotor from the vehicle.

5. Disinfected the distinct brake rotor with brake cleaning solvent to remove any oil and debris. Lower the vehicle back to the ground and retighten the lug nuts.7. Pump the brakes four to five times before operating the vehicle. This restores the brake caliper piston to its orderly position.

6. Reinstall the brake pads onto the caliper and country the brake caliper back over the rotor. Reinstall the brake caliper mounting bolts. Reinstall the spin and tighten the lug nuts. Install the dissimilar brake rotor onto the hub and reinstall the brake caliper mounting bracket. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper and convenience large-diameter slip-joint pliers to squeeze the brake caliper piston back into the caliper. This allows the brake caliper to slide back over the rotor all the more easier.

Failure to conclude this can conclusion in an initial delayed response from the brakes and an inability to objective the car.
