Benefit a multimeter to essay the voltage of your pressure sensor.
The Oldsmobile Alero is a compact vehicle designed and manufactured by General Motors. The Alero comes with a 3.4-liter, 6-cylinder engine. The pressure sensor n the Alero measures and records the current pressure of the engine and manifold. The sensor sends this information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which adjusts the air to fuel ratio accordingly. If you suspect your pressure sensor is faulty, use a multimeter to test it for voltage.
Instructions
1. Open the hood of the Oldsmobile Alero. If the Alero had recently been driven, allow a half hour for all components to cool. Locate the pressure sensor. This is on top of the engine, in the center of the unit, directly to the left of the EGR valve. The sensor is a small black box, which has a three-wire connection coming out of the side.
2. Remove the wire harness from the sensor. Squeeze the tabs on the side of the harness and pull straight out.
3. Clip the lead wire on the multimeter to the signal wire on the sensor. The opposite multimeter lead wire must be attached to a ground. The negative battery terminal is good for this.
You should see a quick jump in the voltage reading. As the vacuum process drops, the voltage should increase. If you do not see an increase in voltage, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.4. Turn the engine on. Ask someone to rev the engine while you watch the multimeter register.
