The upper level bolt numbers for the top engine are "3", "7", "6" and "2", and the lower level bolt numbers are "4", "8", "5" and "1". The bottom engine bolt numbers on the upper level are "1", "5", "8" and "4", and the lower level head bolt numbers are "2", "6", "7" and "3". Lift the cylinder head and head gasket from the engine block. Discard the old head gasket. The head bolt numbers for the tightening sequence on the top engine are "6", "2", "3" and "7" on the upper level and "5", "1", "4" and "8" on the lower level. The head bolt numbers for the bottom motor are "8", "4", "1" and "5" on the upper row and "7", "3", "2" and "6" on the lower row. Gradually torque each bolt to 70 foot-pounds on three passes.


6. Replace the upper components on the LeBaron in the reverse order of removal, including the manifolds, camshaft and alternator. Place coolant in the cooling system and new oil in the engine oil tank. Start the vehicle and run for about ten minutes. Check for oil or coolant leaks.
